Thank you to all those that were able to attend our 10's competition this year. with 20 clubs, 42 teams, 105 matches, 8 pitches and over 600 players, this is our 3rd year and is going from strength to strength and a good curtain drop for the end of season and touring sides.

A big thank you to organisers Simon Baxter, Louise Addy and all the volunteers supporting the rugby on and off field.

U13:After a mammoth double-round robin, involving no fewer than sixty matches across the day, the U13 titles were decided on a league basis, with Macclesfield heading the Bowl group table, Beverley coming out on top in the Castle Plate, and the Castle Cup honours being taken by an impressive Wetherby RUFC performance.

U14: The home of the fastest and most free flowing rugby of the event, an attritional U14 pool saw the Castle Plate picked up by Goole (as hosts Sandal were too depleted for the Plate Final), whilst an unbeaten Beverley captured the Castle Cup.

U15: With the drying weather seeing the club’s Colts pitch firm up rapidly and support some great running and offloading play, the U15 Castle Plate was secured by Sheffield Tigers. The Cup was secured by a delighted Sandal home team, overcome last year’s final round disappointment to secure the morale-boosting win.

U16: The showpiece event of the day, played out in fantastic spirit in front of a vocal and very supportive crowd, the U16 competition really was something to be seen. Eleven teams neither asked nor gave any quarter in their quest for the Castle, with the touring Preston Grasshoppers securing the Castle Plate. Old Rishworthians took a tough day with a smile, and accepted the competition wooden spoon in great spirit, insisting that it wasn’t destined for the clubhouse kitchen, but pride of place in their trophy cabinet. The competition’s final game saw immense local rivalry as Sandal took on Yorkshire Cup winners Harrogate. Season 23-24 has seen some titanic battles between these sides, and the final was no exception. In a very close game Sandal’s last minute try saw them crowned winners, with a relieved captain Joe McCann receiving the Castle Cup Trophy to huge applause.
