The 1XV travel to Pocklington this Saturday for what is a very important game. Though we sit 4th from bottom, 11 points above our opponents (and 10 from the relegation zone - am I really saying this? Wow!), defeat here would remove any wriggle room we have. Though 'Pock' have been soundly beaten in recent games on the road against Billingham and Lymm; at home, they ran Harrogate closer (20-40 defeat), just got beaten by Morley 18-20 and beat Ilkley 22-20. Though at times I try not to read too much into performances, it does shout out that when at home, they provide much stiffer opposition.
What does this mean to Sandal? We just need to cut out the mistakes and be ruthless. The first 20 minute horror show against Rossendale left a deficit that despite a very good 60 minute effort, we could never hope to overturn. You must praise the fight and effort that was shown in dragging ourselves back in the game, but level 5 rugby is about performance from the whistle (or to paraphrase Linford Christie, we need maximum effort from the 'b of the bang'). I know the players were disappointed and received some frank feedback from the coaching team after the match. Lets hope this is still ringing in their ears come Saturday and they make amends this weekend.
As always, Twitter will be running (signal permitting) giving those who can't travel updates on how we are doing. I'm being cautious with the live feed on periscope as it has fried my ageing phone twice.
Two games left before the Xmas break. I've written to Santa and asked for two wins to help the festive cheer. Lets see eh!
Onwards!
