Sandal vs Scunthorpe

Sandal took on Scunthorpe after a couple of weeks without a game. Walking out to the drums of the Uralic-Hai, the scene was set for an interesting game of rugby.
At times, the backline looked untouchable, at times the forwards discipline was nowhere to be seen. This made a tale of 2 halves in both halves.
Sandal made the better start to the half, a decent box kick followed by a charge down gave sandal great field position early and eventually pressure told with the 1st of 9 backs try’s scored. A similar theme followed for the 1st section of the half. Hali had a plethora of options with seckham jordan cherry handley and Barlow all looking threatening and we raced into a 15-0 lead.
The next 30 ish minutes either side of half time we decided to into self destruct mode. Repeated penalties for hands in at the ruck, playing the 9, offside around the breakdown invited so much pressure. Credit must go to Scunthorpe for sticking to very clear game plan and really tested the scrum, maul and they took points when available. Eventually after 20 some penalties a yellow card sandal finally got the message. The score at this point was 29-14 and next points were crucial.
The penalties stopped and the game opened back up and the backline was able to kick back into gear. Even the referee lost count of the tries but we think there was a seckham and handley hattrick, Cherry x2, Barlow and JK with our tries.
Credit must go to Jack Bailey coming back from a broken leg, playing 80 minutes and whacked everything in sight. Caelum jordan on 2nd team debut must have 5 assists and a number line breaks and tackle busts, but in the end, you can’t not to give a joint man of the match to the 2 hattrick men.
Final score 60 - 11 (we think)
