After moving to the area and knowing of Sandal after playing against them for years with Ionians, i thought I’d go down to T&P in the summer to see if you were really all “helmets” as the Hull lads called you. Turns out only some of you are, but actually most of the lads and the club itself were fantastic and I seemed to fit straight in after only a few sessions. Then after a heading to the Star after training one night, Knowlesy got my number and he’s been harassing me ever since. But seriously, the club and the lads are spot on and Ionians started to lose that comradery that Sandal holds dear.

2.) What is your Best & Worse rugby memory?

Worst rugby memory is losing the North of England School Sevens final to Kirkham after beating Sedbergh in the semi-final, gutting. Best memory is playing at Twickenham at age group level and winning Magaluf Beach Rugby with the Secret Saracens, both equally good.

3.) Who is the fastest runner between you and your brother?

Definitely me, I do Hyrox now you know.

4.) Who is better at attracting the opposite sex?

I’d say Vickers. He’s always done well with the ladies, they used to say he looks like Ryan Reynolds but then again this is Hull where most girls are blind.

5.) Who was the child that could do no wrong and why?

I only met Vickers in 6th form so not sure about his early days but I can tell you Josh got away with murder. He once got chocolate stuck in the charging port on his new Sony Ericson mobile phone and decided the best course of action would be to melt the chocolate by putting the phone in the microwave. He was then shocked when the microwave blew up and nearly set the cabin on fire. Needless to say my parents didn’t bat an eyelid but if I failed an exam they acted like the world was over.

6.) Does Vickers wish he was a Wilson?

Who doesn’t? Join the queue. Initiation isn’t pretty.

7.) Favourite Foods / Drink?

I’d say steak or burger washed down with a Madri.

8.) Whats the biggest round you have bought? And where?

Spent a fair whack at Mambos in Magaluf after winning the cup but it has to be the 80 jager bombs at Sandal rugby club in my first season. Was worth the £200 watching Mark pour them all out. I think he actually ran out of Jager and sent someone to Asda.

9.) Who’s the better player?

Subjective. By all accounts, Vickers has had a cracking season and probably played some of his best ever rugby this year so it’s close, but I’m stubborn so I’d back myself on this one. I’m also the better golfer.

10.) Which player are you most happy to see in the team sheet on a match day?

I like to see Charlie Beeney on the team sheet, mainly because it’s in a different position every week. He’s worked his way from winger to hooker in 2 seasons and played every position in-between, but you know he will give 110% wherever he plays.
