As we enter our Centenary Year, Sandal RUFC is investing in the future of our club and we're looking for an exceptional Club Coach Developer to help strengthen our coaching environment and player pathway.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced rugby coach, mentor or coach educator to influence the development of both coaches and players across our thriving age-grade section.
Working with coaches from U12-U18 Boys and Girls rugby, you will provide support, challenge and guidance to create a consistent, player-centred coaching environment that prepares young people for a successful transition into adult rugby.
The Role
You will:
Mentor and support coaches working with U12-U18 Boys and Girls teams.
Observe training sessions and provide constructive feedback.
Create individual coach development plans.
Deliver practical CPD workshops and coaching development sessions.
Align coaching principles and language across age-grade and senior rugby.
Support the implementation of our U18 to Adult Transition Programme.
Work closely with senior coaches, academy staff and club leadership.
Monitor and report on coaching engagement and transition outcomes.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
Has significant rugby coaching experience within age-grade rugby.
Is passionate about developing coaches as well as players.
Can build positive relationships with volunteer coaches.
Understands long-term player development.
Can deliver practical, engaging learning experiences on and off the pitch.
Is organised, approachable and committed to continuous improvement.
Desirable Qualifications
England Rugby Mentoring Award.
RFU Coaching Qualifications.
Experience working across both youth and senior rugby environments.
Understanding of both boys' and girls' player pathways.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 5 hours per week across a 10-month season, including:
Training session visits.
Coach mentoring conversations.
Periodic CPD workshops.
Seasonal planning and review meetings.
Flexible scheduling will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Success in Season One will be measured by the establishment of strong mentor–coach relationships across the club, fostering greater collaboration between age-grade and senior coaching teams. A structured coach development programme will be embedded to support continual learning and consistency. Ultimately, success will be reflected in an increasing number of young players progressing confidently into adult rugby and becoming established within the senior environment.
