From 26th August 1927 until 1930 and according to a fixture card 1929/30, it states
Colours:- Green and White (One inch bands) which are the colours Sandal played in for the first 3 years of its existence.

Story has it that these colours clashed with another teams who we played regular fixtures against so it was decided in 1930 to change colours.
In the meeting to discuss this, there was a packet of Gold Flake Cigarettes on the table and a committee member point at them and said, lets play in those colours.
And so we have it! Maroon and Gold - which we continued with to date.
