2012-13 Sport England notified the Club on 26th September 2012 that it had been awarded a Sport England grant of £50,000 towards the construction of two new pitches on leased land beyond the bottom end of the 1st XV pitch. A similar grant of £80,000 plus an interest free loan of £50,000 was also awarded by the Rugby Football Union towards the cost of the Scheme early in 2013.
2013-14 Work on the scheme commenced on 3rd June 2013 and was substantially complete by 16th July 2013 being the date the Contractor, Souters Sports Ltd, left the site. Maintenance work by the Contractor continued until July 2014, after which both pitches became the responsibility of the Club and were officially opened on 14th September 2014 by Stuart Lancaster the England RFU Coach.
