History of the “Friends of Sandal” and the “200 Club” over the years. Details of How to Join Included Below. For Further info Contact John Dawson

The “Friends of Sandal R.U.F.C.” bank account was opened in 1995 and acted as a second account for the Club handling donations. All donations were used to support the fabric of the clubhouse and its infrastructure. When the ‘New’ clubhouse was officially opened on 8th May 1999 the scheme continued to operate as the Friends of Sandal, but donations were not significant amounts.
The demise of the Wakefield R.U.F.C. in 2004 brought an influx of players and members to Sandal along with its ‘200 Club’ which was then amalgamated with the Friends of Sandal to make one scheme. The secretary at Wakefield at the time, Roger Parkinson, brought an amount of money and a number of its members who still are contributors to the 200 club. Over the years, these have been increased by Sandal members.
Membership of the 200 Club is by the purchase of a “block” of 5 numbers which go into a monthly draw. Each “block” costs £5 per month with no limit to the number of “blocks” that can be purchased. Monthly prize money is £240 in the form of winnings ranging from £100 to £15. The draw is made in the middle of each month and is published on the Club’s Website and on the notice board in the clubhouse.
The ‘200 Club’ stays true to its origins and is used solely to support the fabric of the clubhouse and its environs.
The ‘200 Club is administered by a separate committee who consider applications for grants, a few examples of which are listed below.
