On behalf of everyone at Sandal RUFC, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the players, coaches, committee members and travelling supporters of Penrith RUFC for what promises to be a hugely important fixture for both clubs.
There’s no hiding from the significance of today’s game. At this stage of the season every point matters, and this is very much a crunch encounter. For us, it’s an opportunity to create some breathing room between ourselves and the relegation places; for Penrith, it’s a chance to build momentum and pull themselves back into a stronger position. Games like this are built on attitude, discipline and composure - I’m sure both sides will be ready for the challenge.
From our perspective, the group continues to work hard and stay connected. Training numbers across the senior squads have remained strong, standards are being driven daily, and the wider squad has stepped up consistently when called upon. That depth and commitment has been vital in a long, demanding season, and it reflects the environment we are continuing to build here at Sandal - one based on hard work, belief and collective responsibility.
As always, my thanks go to the volunteers, grounds staff, match officials and everyone behind the scenes who make days like this possible. Community rugby only works because of the people who give their time week in, week out, and it never goes unnoticed.
We hope you enjoy the game, play hard, play fair, and represent your clubs with pride.
