The team from County Durham arrived at Sandal for a friendly fixture having not played each other at this level for several years.

Sandal got off to a flying start with the forwards making the ball available for fly half Mihali Joannou combining well to send centre Patrick Snowball through to score. Sandal started to take control and again a flowing backs move was finished by full back Jack Cherry after great work by wing Will Joyce. With the conversion taken by Joannou Sandal led the visitors 12-0.

With a big pack and a large squad Billingham continued to threaten and they broke the Sandal defence to take the score 12-7. Sandal didn't drop their heads and scored next with man of the match Cherry scoring from within his own 22. With the conversion by Joannou from out wide Sandal had a healthy 19-7 lead. But this didn't last long as Billingham fought back to take a converted score to 19-14.

Cherry's pace continued to cause Billingham problems and a great run from his own 22 with a chip and run resulted in a diving score in the corner to take the score to 24-14.

It was the forwards turn to get on the score-sheet with great work at the line out finished by Billy Addy to take the game away from Billingham at 29-14. Billingham finished the scoring to make the final outcome 29-19 with a deserved win for Sandal.
