Sandal U11s enjoyed a fantastic day at the Selby Festival, playing five matches against tough opposition from West Park Leeds, Scunthorpe, and hosts Selby. With the sun blazing overhead and the lush 1st XV pitch underfoot, the stage was set for an exciting morning of rugby.
The boys rose to the occasion superbly, showing great skill, discipline, and commitment across all matches. Among the many highlights was the quality of our ball retention. Our determination to present the ball well and ruck with purpose was a joy to watch. This team effort led to many impressive multi-phase passages of play. When we combined this with moving the ball through the hands, free-running rugby followed — and the tries inevitably came.
Throughout the festival, there was a real sense of togetherness. Every player contributed to a strong team performance built on a willingness to nail the basics and work hard for each other.
After the final whistle, many of the lads capped off a memorable day with a well-earned ice cream in the sunshine — a fitting reward for their efforts!
A huge thanks to all the organisers, referees, and opponents for a brilliant festival. We look forward to building on these performances at the final outing of the season — next week's Chesterfield Festival.
