Sandal U11s travelled to Chesterfield for their final outing of the season and their last matches as an U11 team. The festival marked a fitting end to what has been a hugely positive and developmental season for this group of players.
Building on the excellent progress made over recent weeks, the team delivered another impressive display of physical, intelligent rugby. Ball retention was particularly outstanding, with several opposition coaches remarking on just how tough and hard-working the Sandal side was throughout the day.
Fierce Competition, Respectful Spirit
Sandal faced strong opposition from Ilkeston, Mosborough, the touring Whitchurch, and Sheffield Tigers. Each match brought its own challenges and moments to savour. A standout performance came against Sheffield Tigers, in what was one of the most enjoyable and hard-fought contests of the season. The referee praised it as the most enjoyable game of high quality rugby he’s had the pleasure to officiate. The players' commitment and respectful attitude were a credit to them all. Players, parents, and coaches can be thoroughly proud of the way the team closed out their season.
Looking Ahead
A big thank you to Chesterfield for hosting a well-organised and enjoyable festival—a fantastic way to round off the campaign and cap an excellent season of rugby.
We now look forward to the end-of-season presentation on the 18th, where we’ll celebrate the team’s fantastic progress and enjoy a fun afternoon together.
Enjoy a well-earned rest over the summer—and we’ll see you in September, ready to go again as U12s!
