Firstly, a warm welcome to the players, coaches, officials and supporters of York RUFC to Sandal.
Both clubs come into the fixture having experienced difficult starts to the season, with each going through a period of transition and rebuilding. As we know from our own experiences, these periods can be challenging, but they also provide opportunities to develop, establish new combinations and build towards longer-term success.
From our perspective, the opening weeks have been frustrating. We know we have more to offer than our performances and results have demonstrated so far. There have been glimpses of what this group is capable of, but our challenge is to turn those moments into consistent performances over the full 80 minutes.
Today's fixture presents an important opportunity for both sides. Although we are still in the early stages of the season, the points on offer could prove vital when we look back at the league table later in the year. Both teams will undoubtedly recognise the importance of this afternoon's contest, and I expect a fiercely competitive encounter.
For us, the focus remains on continuing to develop as a group, taking greater ownership of our performances and ensuring the hard work being put in during the week translates onto the pitch on a Saturday. We have confidence in the direction we are heading, but ultimately we know that progress needs to be reflected in our performances.
Finally, thank you to everyone supporting the club this afternoon. Your continued backing is hugely appreciated by the players and coaching team.
Enjoy the game.
