We come into this match after losing out in the last play of a tough game against Kendal. This leaves us 8 points above the bottom three and 6 points off Kendal, who sit directly above us. This weekend sees Pocklington play Morley and Hull play Birkenhead Park; so you would think that positions in the bottom 3 won't change too much come Saturday evening. Having said that, Kendal v Wirral & Ilkley v Hull also provide interesting fixtures and with a win, we can look to close the gap. We just need to win!
They say the table doesn't lie, but in my view, over the past few weeks the team has started to play better. This is now about confidence and self-belief. Our pack has really worked hard this season and provided stability, when it comes together, our backs are a potent force, we just need to join both up more often, use our rugby intelligence and keep the faith for the full 80 minutes.
Kirkby Lonsdale have had a good season so far. Sitting 8th on 24 points (7 above us), they have won 4 and lost 6. Their home form is good with 3 wins and 1 defeat (however, two of those wins were against Morley and Pocklington) and last time out, they were well beaten by Billingham 64-3. Their home support will demand an immediate and positive reaction I'm sure; as will the travelling support after Sandal's defeat.
Remember the kick off is at 2pm. Dependant on network coverage, there will be the usual Twitter updates and live stream (as long as my phone doesn't give up the ghost). For those travelling, safe journey and for those at home, keep an eye on the news feed.
Come on Sandal.
Onwards!
