4. PART 4 HISTORY

The Revival Years (2010 – 2021)

The Club was promoted twice between 2006 and 2010, from Yorkshire One to National 3 North for the start of the 2010/11 season, where the side remained for five seasons until gaining a further promotion to National 2 North for the 2015/16
season only to return to National 3 North for the following season, where it continues to play but under the name of North Premier.
The latest and most recent success the Club has enjoyed was the winning of the Yorkshire Cup for the third time on 17th April 2019 with victory against Sheffield by 32-14 at Morley RFC.
Since the early seventies Sandal RUFC has managed one of the most successful Mini and Junior Sections in the North of England and has produced some very talented players for the Club’s premier side, without which the Club would not have enjoyed the success it has for more than 45 years. With this success problems have developed recently in that the Club found itself short of pitches and adequate flood lit training areas. So the Committee addressed both problems with the provision of two new pitches, constructed and officially opened during the latter part of 2014 and with additional and improved training lights being provided during the summer of 2016.
